Join Voting Access For All Coalition (VAAC) for our Friday Community Meeting on June 12, 2026, at 12:30 PM EST.
VAAC Friday meetings bring together directly impacted people, organizers, advocates, and community members from across Michigan to connect, learn, and build collective strategy.
As Michigan moves deeper into the 2026 election cycle, major legal and policy debates over voting rights and representation continue to unfold across the country and here at home.
From ongoing challenges to the federal Voting Rights Act to court cases that could reshape representation for Black communities and other historically marginalized voters, these developments could affect voting access, districting, language access, and how communities build political power.
This meeting will provide an overview of the Michigan Voting Rights Act (MIVRA), recent federal voting rights developments, and Louisiana v. Callais, a case with potential implications for fair representation and voting rights protections.
Topics will include:
• Understanding the Michigan Voting Rights Act (MIVRA)
• Recent federal voting rights developments
• Louisiana v. Callais and fair representation
• Voting access, districting, and language access
• Potential impacts on Michigan communities
• Community discussion and questions
VAAC Friday meetings bring together directly impacted people, advocates, organizers, and community members from across Michigan to learn, connect, and stay informed about issues affecting our communities.
