VAAC Friday Community Meeting | Official Launch of the Michigan Jail Voting Guide

VAAC Friday meetings bring together directly impacted people, organizers, advocates, and community members from across Michigan to connect, learn, and build collective strategy.

This meeting will introduce a new resource developed to help communities across Michigan better understand the voting process for eligible voters detained in local jails.

We will be joined by Amelia Armstrong from the Prisoners’ Legal Advocacy Network (PLAN), who will share more about PLAN’s work, discuss the development of the guide, and explain how this resource can support election officials, jail administrators, legal advocates, community organizations, and others working to provide accurate voting information throughout Michigan.

Discussion topics include:

  • Introduction to PLAN and its work
  • Official launch of the Michigan Jail Voting Guide
  • What is included in the guide and how it can be used
  • Practical applications for clerks, jails, legal professionals, advocates, and community organizations
  • How to access and share the guide throughout your county and community
  • Live Q&A with attendees
