Governor Candidate Forum in Detroit

On May 16th, 2026, the End Gun Violence MI is proud to host their first-ever non-partisan Governor Candidate Forum in Detroit.

This is a unique opportunity for our community to engage directly with candidates running for Governor. Each candidate will be invited to share their vision for keeping Michigan communities safe and to answer our questions about how they plan to be true champions for gun violence prevention. We are excited to have Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and Sheriff Chris Swanson confirmed so far!

This forum isn’t just about hearing from the candidates. It’s about making sure the voices of survivors, advocates, and community leaders across the state are at the center of the conversation. Candidates will be asked to address the following topics:

  • Protecting our schools & children.
  • Suicide prevention.
  • Community violence intervention.
  • Domestic violence.
  • Holding the gun industry accountable.
  • Protecting our democracy.

Your participation matters! If we want change, we all need to show up to demonstrate how important community safety and democracy really are.

After the forum, we will host an organization fair so attendees can get involved with local groups that are working every day on these issues.

NOTE:

*This is a non-partisan, 501c(3) compliant event. All candidates of all parties that meet our inclusion criteria have been invited.

*Questions will be prepared in advance by the organizers. There will be no questions from the floor.

Space is limited! Register today to secure your spot.
