Step 1: You must be registered to vote. Once you are registered in a state, you can vote in any election. If you move within the state, you will need to update your registration. If you move to a new state, you will need to register in that state.

Step 2: Choose if you wish to vote before election day or on election day, and learn how. This year we have more options than ever for voting before election day, including at new early voting centers.

We have all the information you need to understand and exercise your right to vote:

Vote Early in Person

  • Vote in person before election day.
  • Early voting is available a minimum of 9 days, beginning the second Saturday before Election Day and ending the Sunday before Election Day
  • Look up early voting location, date and time for your city or township.

Vote Early with an Absentee Ballot

  • Apply for your Absentee Ballot and get on the permanent Absentee Ballot list.
  • You can fill out your Absentee Ballot at home.
  • Return your Absentee Ballot in one of several ways.
  • Absentee Ballots can also be processed at early voting sites.

Vote on Election Day

  • The Michigan General Election day is November 5, 2024.
