In Her Honor Detroit: Aftershock Screening and Afterglow

Join Mothering Justice, The ARIAH Foundation, Omari Maynard, and community partners for the opening night of In Her Honor Detroit, a three-day experience of art, storytelling, remembrance, and action honoring mothers lost to maternal mortality and advancing maternal health justice.

The evening will begin with a screening of the documentary Aftershock, followed by an Afterglow reception and community discussion. Attendees will gather to reflect on the film, honor families affected by maternal mortality, and discuss the systemic changes needed to improve maternal health outcomes.

In Her Honor Detroit brings together families, advocates, artists, healthcare professionals, policymakers, birth workers, and community members to honor the lives and legacies of Black mothers and birthing people whose stories continue to move this work forward.

Doors open at 6:00 PM. The film begins promptly at 7:00 PM.
