As Michigan enters the 2026 election season, Voting Access for All Coalition and community partners When You Vote I Win, Speak Life, Michigan League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, BARCOS, and the Michigan Department of State are bringing nonpartisan voter education and engagement directly into the trusted spaces where people already gather.

Barbershop Talks: Your Voice, Your Vote, Your Power will bring community conversations into barbershops, beauty salons, local businesses, and neighborhood hubs across Michigan. These events are designed to give residents accessible opportunities to ask questions, receive accurate election information, learn about voter registration and voting options, and connect directly with resources from the Michigan Department of State.

The series will also create space for conversations about issues connected to civic participation and voter access, including the Michigan Voting Rights Act, public investment in civic education and community-led voter engagement, formal recognition of barbershops and salons as nonpartisan voter-engagement partners, and opportunities to recognize civic engagement as continuing education for barbers and cosmetologists.

Through trusted community relationships, participating organizations will work together to expand voter education, increase Get-Out-the-Vote activity, connect residents with accurate election resources, and reach voters who may not be engaged through traditional outreach.

Barbershops and salons are more than businesses. They are places where people gather, exchange information, build relationships, and talk about what is happening in their communities. Your Voice, Your Vote, Your Power brings voter education into those conversations and meets Michigan voters where they are.
