Silence the Violence was started 17 years ago by the Church of the Messiah on Detroit’s east side. The march brings the community together to commemorate the victims of gun violence, and has now grown into a thousand person event. Organizations, leaders, politicians, and the neighborhood all come together to march, remember, and stand against gun violence.

Church of the Messiah has asked EGVMI to help spread the message and take Silence the Violence statewide.

This year, we have something to celebrate: Michigan passed four new historic gun violence laws in 2023! Now we need to make sure that everyone knows about them. So far, our members have organized more than 20 events all across Michigan to get the word out!
