Voting Rights Art Project Continues: Southgate Photos and July 18 Hamtramck Pop-Up

Voting Access For All Coalition (VAAC), in partnership with Indivisible Metro Detroit, continues to build a community-created Voting Rights Community Art Project that brings together civic engagement, storytelling, and creative expression.

Our latest Voting Rights Community Art Project pop-up at Urbanrest in Ferndale brought together community members of all ages to create artwork exploring voting rights, democracy, civic participation, and community voice. Check out some of the incredible pieces created during the event below, and visit VAAC’s Facebook and Instagram pages to see even more photos from the day.

Every collage, painting, drawing, and written reflection becomes part of a growing community-created collaborative artwork that tells the story of how people experience and think about voting rights and democracy.

We’re excited to share that the completed exhibit has been selected for ArtPrize 2026 and will be exhibited at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids during ArtPrize, September 17 through October 3, 2026.

There’s still time to contribute to the installation.

Join us for our next pop-up:

The Hamtramck pop-up sounds interesting. I wonder how the local community is getting involved with the art project.
