Este Saturday, July 18, Coalición Acceso al Voto para Todos (VAAC), en asociación con Metro indivisible de Detroit, invites community members to help create a collaborative art installation exploring voting rights, democracy, civic participation, and community experiences.

The Voting Rights Community Art Project brings people together through creative expression and storytelling. No art experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.

Participants can contribute through painting, drawing, collage, writing, or mixed media. Every contribution will become part of the larger community-created installation.

A growing community art project

At a recent pop-up at Urbanrest in Ferndale, community members of all ages created artwork reflecting their experiences and ideas about voting rights, civic participation, democracy, and community voice.

Each collage, painting, drawing, and written reflection adds to a growing collaborative artwork that tells the story of how people think about and experience voting rights and democracy.

The completed project is headed to ArtPrize

The completed Voting Rights Community Art Project has been selected for Premio de Arte 2026.

The installation will be exhibited at Iglesia de Fountain Street en Grand Rapids Durante ArtPrize, del 17 de septiembre al 3 de octubre de 2026.
