2026 Rising Voices Advocacy Day

Wednesday, June 17, 2026 9:00 AM –  3:00 PM ET

Central United Methodist Church, 215 N Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI 48933

Rising Voices is hosting our very first advocacy day at the Michigan State Capitol on Wednesday, June 17th at the Central United Methodist Church (215 N Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI 48933) from 9am to 3pm.

Rising Voices members and attendees will be meeting with their state legislators to advocate for the passage of the Michigan Voting Rights Act (SB 961-964 & HB 5969-5972), the ICE Accountability bills (SB 508-510), and the Teach MI History legislation (SB 453-455 & HB 4697-4689). We ask that attendees be prepared to share their experiences and personal connections with the legislation and issues. Materials and resources will be provided by Rising Voices staff ahead of the Advocacy Day.

Rising Voices will be providing a light breakfast and lunch for attendees. We recommended business casual attire and comfortable walking shoes. If you would like to volunteer with us to support check-in, clean-up, and other day-of logistics, please mark volunteer on your registration.

If you have any questions, or would like to request accommodations for the event, please contact our Policy Coordinator Brenda Maqdasi at brenda@risingvoicesaaf.org.
