Voting Access for All Coalition (VAAC), in partnership with Indivisible Metro Detroit, is hosting a series of community pop-ups where participants contribute to a collaborative Voting Rights Art Installation.
We’ve already held two pop-ups, with more people showing up at each one. Participants are creating pieces, inviting others in, and building momentum as the installation grows.
At each pop-up, participants create a 5 x 7 piece that includes written reflection and visual expression about voting rights. Contributions reflect personal experiences, family history, barriers to voting, and what civic participation looks like in real life. It’s also a space to reflect and express what this moment means to each of us, especially during an election year where many people are navigating uncertainty and rapid changes.
All pieces will be combined into a single installation that reflects how people across our communities understand voting and access to the ballot.
No art experience is required. Materials are provided. Participants can work individually or with others.
