April Special Elections: Early Voting Underway

From our friends at Promote the Vote Michigan:

It’s April! And the 2024 Special Election for House Districts 13 and 25 is fast approaching! Here are some reminders for voters in House Districts 13 and 25:

Starting April 2 through 8 p.m. on Election Day (April 16), you must register to vote in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency. Proof of residency is a document with your name and current address in the city or township where you live. Paper or electronic copies of any of the following documents will work:

  • A Michigan driver’s license or state ID card.
  • A utility bill.
  • A bank statement.
  • A paycheck.
  • A government check.
  • Any other government document.

Unless you’re serving in the military or living overseas, starting April 3, we recommend dropping your absentee ballot off at your city or township clerk’s office or in a secure drop box provided by your clerk, instead of putting it in the mail, to make sure it is received in time to be counted. (If you’re serving in the military or living overseas, your ballot must be postmarked by Election Day (April 16) and received by April 22 to count.)

If you have already returned your absentee ballot and want to change your vote, you can do so by spoiling your absentee ballot until 5 p.m. on April 5. After April 5 at 5 p.m., if you already returned your absentee ballot, you can’t spoil it or change your vote.

Please remind your communities of these upcoming deadlines!
