I spent 23 year, 6 months, and 14 days in Illinois prison for a crime that I had no knowledge of…during that time I gained my Associate degree, Bachelors and Master’s Degree in communication.

It takes great determination to come out of prison better than you went in. It is wonderful to see when it happens. I too have been focused on education during and after time in prison. I look forward to a future where fewer people suffer the abuses and injustices of incarceration.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is so important for every wrongful conviction to be known about. We need to hold law enforcement and prosecutors who engage in misconduct accountable.
