The Voting Access for All Coalition in partnership with Spread The Vote have expanded the Vote by Mail in Jail program across the state of Michigan, assisting jailed voters with registering and requesting absentee ballots, with the mission to increase the number of eligible voters incarcerated in Michigan’s jail and detention facilities who participate in their elections.

We do this by partnering with jail and detention facilities who house eligible voters in their custody. We cater to our partners by developing regionally specific educational materials to provide to incarcerated voters. We also train volunteers to host registration events at their local jails, as well as supply deputized volunteers to aid and address voter concerns directly. Along with this we host Jailed Voter Information Sessions online monthly. We provide program participants with free materials including voter registration applications, absentee ballot request paperwork, nonpartisan voter guides and election deadline reminders at no cost to facilities or voters.

To join our Jail Voting Team as a volunteer, please contact us and someone will reach out to you with more information.
