The March Across the Edmund Pettus Bridge: The March for Our Right to Vote in Grand Rapids

To start our celebration of National Voter Registration Day, we will be hosting a conversation with Denise Holt and Alice Moore, two activists who made the 50 mile march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965, to demand their right to vote. This march was led by the late Congressman John Lewis at the young age of 16 years old.  He led over 600 marchers over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, for the right to vote.  Hearing these two women who successfully fought for change will give our children the inspiration and confidence to know that they can do the same.

We invite you to join us at the First Community AME Church on Monday, September 18, at 11am, to hear firsthand the story of this pivotal moment in the history of our country.
