VAAC is helping connect our community with a special virtual documentary discussion during National Voter Education Week focused on The Battle for Ranked Choice Voting.
There are two separate opportunities to participate: watch the documentary with VAAC on October 3, then join Community Documentary Night for a discussion and guest Q&A on October 4. The film will not be shown during the October 4 discussion.
October 3: Watch the Film with VAAC
VAAC will host an online watch party of The Battle for Ranked Choice Voting on Saturday, October 3 for anyone who would like to watch the documentary together before the following night’s discussion.

You do not have to attend VAAC’s screening to participate in the October 4 event. The documentary is available to watch for free online, so you can also view it on your own at whatever time works best for you.
October 4: Special Virtual Documentary Night
The movie will not be screened during the 10/4 event. Participants should watch it before joining the discussion.
The documentary examines the history of ranked choice voting in the United States and abroad and follows efforts to adopt the voting method as well as the political opposition those efforts have encountered.
Participants will meet on Zoom for a series of randomized small-group conversations. Groups of approximately four or five people will receive discussion prompts and have an opportunity to talk with different participants throughout the evening.
The event will conclude with a guest Q&A featuring Julie Mallozzi, Scotty Vercoe, Nika Elugardo, and Kyle Bailey. Participants are welcome to arrive late or leave early if needed.

The event is organized by Community Documentary Night in collaboration with Better Ballot Georgia, New Hampshire Ranked Choice Voting, Alaskans for Better Elections, FairVote Minnesota, Rank MI Vote, Voter Choice NJ, FairVote Washington, and Better Ballot South Carolina.
