Black Voters Matter will be in Detroit this Saturday, August 22, for a full day of voter outreach, community organizing, and a free documentary screening.

The day begins with phone banking and canvassing at two Detroit locations, followed by a motorcade and an evening screening of Love, Joy & Power: Tools for Liberation.

GOTV Phone Bank and Canvassing at Howard Family Bookstore

The first volunteer opportunity of the day will take place at Howard Family Bookstore.

Participants will help with phone banking and canvassing to reach voters with information and encourage civic participation. Voter education, free merchandise, and other resources will also be available.

Black Voters Matter will continue its voter outreach on Detroit’s east side with another phone bank and canvassing opportunity at Eastside Community Network.

Volunteers can participate in voter contact beginning at noon. A motorcade will line up at the same location at 2:00 PM.

Love, Joy & Power: Tools for Liberation

The day will close with a free screening of Love, Joy & Power: Tools for Liberation at Martin Evers Missionary Baptist Church.

Hosted by Black Voters Matter, the screening offers another opportunity to gather in community and engage with the organization’s work around voting, civic participation, and building community power.
