What Michigan’s 2026-2027 State Budget Means for Kids and Families

Michigan’s 2026-2027 state budget has been finalized after another contentious budget cycle, despite bipartisan support for the final budget in both chambers of the Legislature.

Now that the budget is complete, the Michigan League for Public Policy has reviewed the details to identify what the final spending plan means for Michigan children and families.

On August 27, MLPP will host a special virtual briefing featuring Rachel Richards, who will provide analysis of the new state budget and discuss the continued federal actions affecting programs and services that many Michigan residents rely on.

The briefing will also give participants an opportunity to ask questions, engage directly with MLPP staff, and raise issues affecting their communities.
