Disability Pride Month is a time to recognize the history, leadership, and experiences of people with disabilities. It is also a reminder that disability rights, voting rights, and civil rights are connected.
Voting access means more than being legally eligible to vote. It also means voters can get the information, assistance, accommodations, and accessible options they need to participate.
Join Voting Access For All Coalition (VAAC) on Friday, July 17 at 12:30 PM ET at bit.ly/VAACFridays for a community conversation focused on Disability Pride Month, voting rights, and building elections and communities that include everyone.
This meeting will cover:
• The history and significance of Disability Pride Month and the Americans with Disabilities Act
• Why disability rights are voting rights and civil rights
• Barriers voters with disabilities continue to face in Michigan and across the country
• How advocates, election officials, and community organizations can improve accessibility and expand participation
• What it takes to build a democracy where everyone can fully participate
• Community discussion, questions, and next steps
VAAC Friday meetings bring together directly impacted people, advocates, organizers, and community members from across Michigan to learn, connect, and stay informed about the issues affecting our communities. All are welcome!
