Voting Rights Community Art Project at the Committee for the 1st Amendment Concert Watch Party

Sunday, June 14 | 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Market Center Park
13631 Eureka Rd., Southgate, MI 48195

Watch Party • Stadium Seating • Splash Pad • Family Friendly

Join Voting Access For All Coalition (VAAC), Indivisible Metro Detroit, Indivisible Downriver United, and other community partners for an evening of music, connection, and creative expression.

Community members will have the opportunity to contribute to VAAC’s growing Voting Rights Art Installation, a community-created project that brings together civic engagement, storytelling, and creative expression. Through a series of pop-up events across Metro Detroit, participants are creating small art pieces that reflect their experiences, perspectives, and beliefs about voting rights, democracy, and community voice.

Each piece becomes part of a larger installation exploring voting access, participation, barriers, and the importance of protecting the right to vote. No art experience is required. Participants are welcome to contribute through writing, drawing, collage, or mixed media. All materials will be provided.

VAAC is also excited to share that the Voting Rights Art Installation has been accepted into ArtPrize 2026, where community-created pieces from this project will be featured as part of the exhibition.

Come enjoy the concert watch party, connect with neighbors and community partners, and help build a community-created work of art that reflects the many ways people experience and think about democracy.
