Building trust, equity, and a stronger community
This Saturday, VAAC will be tabling at Detroit’s Restorative Practice Community Meeting, where neighbors and police leaders come together to strengthen trust and fairness in our city. This event reflects VAAC’s mission: advancing justice, dignity, and equal access for all, including in how communities interact with law enforcement.
Facilitated by Assistant Chief Eric Ewing, Captain Tonya Leonard, Pastor Henry McClendon Jr., and Bishop Darryl Harris, the day will center on restorative practices that elevate community voices.
Participants are encouraged to watch Ava DuVernay’s 13th to frame discussions in the broader context of systemic injustice.

When: Saturday, Sept. 27, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: Detroit Public Safety HQ, 1301 Third St.
Food provided: Light breakfast & lunch
Stop by the VAAC table to connect, share your story, and learn more about our work for fair voting access.
