Connecting community power with voting rights and reentry justice in Detroit
VAAC showed up strong at this year’s Juneteenth Celebration hosted by Wisdom Institute at the Tindal Activity Center in Detroit! As part of the Womb Liberation Festival, our team spent the day connecting with community members about voting rights, civic engagement, and the importance of restoring power to those impacted by the criminal legal system.

This was more than just tabling—it was about building relationships, sharing knowledge, and affirming that our voice, our vote, and our value matter.
Surrounded by vibrant vendors, food, music, and a bounce house for the kids, we created space to talk directly with folks about their rights, voter registration, and how to stay engaged long after Election Day.

Why it matters:
- People with records face barriers to the ballot. We help break them down.
- Community education = political power.
- Joy is part of the work.
We’re proud to stand alongside our Detroit community and continue organizing for justice that includes everyone.
