Problem-Solving Courts: Do They Deliver on Their Promises?

Join the MI Statewide Violence and Incarceration Prevention Learning Community

At Voting Access for All Coalition, we believe that every person deserves access to justice, not just punishment. This month, the MI Statewide Violence and Incarceration Prevention Learning Community is tackling an important topic: Problem-Solving Courts.

These courts—drug courts, veterans courts, and other specialty programs—aim to provide alternatives to incarceration by offering treatment and support. But are they truly working? Are they reducing incarceration or just shifting the burden elsewhere? And how can we, as advocates, push for stronger solutions?
