VAAC has a full weekend ahead, with voter education and community outreach happening across Detroit and online from Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4.
You can find us connecting with people at the Pope Francis Center, community arts and family events, two harvest festivals, and online for a weekend focused on The Battle for Ranked Choice Voting.

Friday, October 2: Voter Education at Pope Francis Center
VAAC will return to the Pope Francis Center in Detroit this Friday bright and early to bring voter education and registration support directly to people served by the center.
As the November 3 election approaches, we’ll be available to answer voting questions, help people check their registration, and share information about absentee voting, early voting, Election Day, and voting rights.

Saturday, October 3: VAAC at ArtPrize
VAAC will be back at Fountain Street Church for the final day of ArtPrize, where the Community Voting Rights Art Installation is on display.
We’ll be there with voter registration, voter education, and ballot information, and visitors can also spend time with the community-created installation before ArtPrize ends.

Saturday, October 3: Healing Word Artists Program: Women Then & Now / What’s at Stake?
VAAC will be part of a program hosted by Healing Word Artists and the Detroit Public Library examining women’s voting history, civic participation, and current challenges to political engagement.
VAAC’s Christopher Ford will speak about voter apathy, including participation among Millennials, Gen Z, and men.
The program will also include performances, moderated conversations, presentations, and audience questions.

Saturday, October 3: My Vote My Voice GOTV Family Fun Day
VAAC will also be at the My Vote My Voice GOTV Family Fun Day, a free community event combining family activities with voter engagement.
The event includes karaoke rooms, a kiddie disco, food and treats, and a screening of the documentary Selma Sisters March On, presented by When You Vote, I Win.

Saturday, October 3: Brightmoor Artisans Collective’s 5th Annual Harvest Festival
VAAC will join Jews For A Secular Democracy and the Michigan League of Conservation Voters at Brightmoor Artisans Collective’s 5th Annual Harvest Festival.
Stop by our table for voter education, voting-rights information, help with voter registration, and answers to your questions about voting in Michigan.
The festival will also include free food, local artisan vendors, Brightmoor’s Super Pantry, community organizations and family activities.

Saturday, October 3: VAAC with Ben & Jerry’s at Detroit Harvest Fest
VAAC will also be at Detroit Harvest Fest at Ralph Wilson Park, where we’ll be working with Community Change Ben & Jerry’s to connect visitors with voter information and help people make a plan to vote.
Detroit Harvest Fest will feature food trucks, live entertainment, activities and more throughout the weekend.

Sunday, October 4: VAAC with Ben & Jerry’s at Detroit Harvest Fest
VAAC will be back at Detroit Harvest Fest on Sunday for another day of voter outreach with Ben & Jerry’s.
If you’re visiting the festival, stop by to talk with us about registering to vote, checking your registration, voting absentee, early voting, or making your Election Day plan.

Sunday Night: Special Virtual Documentary Night: The Battle for Ranked Choice Voting
The weekend closes online with a special national Community Documentary Night discussion of The Battle for Ranked Choice Voting.
The film will not be shown during the Sunday program, so participants should watch it beforehand, either during VAAC’s Saturday watch party or on their own.
Sunday’s program will include randomized small-group discussions followed by a guest Q&A with Julie Mallozzi, Scotty Vercoe, Nika Elugardo, and Kyle Bailey.
