VAAC has been busy connecting with people across Michigan, bringing voter education and registration support into community spaces, resource fairs, and gatherings where people are already coming together.
From Flint and Detroit to Ypsilanti, Clinton Township, and beyond, our team has been sharing voting information, answering questions, reconnecting with community partners, and helping people prepare for the November 3 General Election.
We’ve also been catching up on sharing some of the photos from our recent travels!
Take a look at where we’ve been, then help us reach more people by viewing, liking, commenting on, and sharing our posts on Instagram and Facebook.
Flint Mental Health Tailgate with Genesee Health System
On October 5, VAAC joined the Flint Mental Health Tailgate hosted by Genesee Health System, bringing voting-rights information into a gathering focused on mental health and community support.
Our team connected with community members and shared an important reminder: circumstances people may think prevent them from voting often do not. Having a past conviction, experiencing housing instability, or living with a disability does not automatically take away someone’s right to vote in Michigan.
We were glad to be alongside the City of Flint, Gloria Coles Flint Public Library, University of Michigan-Flint, and many other organizations providing resources and support.
Thank you to Genesee Health System for bringing everyone together and to the people who stopped to connect with VAAC.

Voter Education at Team Wellness Center Detroit-East
VAAC was back at Team Wellness Center Detroit-East for another successful day of voter education and registration.
We’ve worked with Team Wellness Center during past elections, and we always appreciate the conversations we have there. Community members ask questions, talk about what’s happening around them, and take time to get the information they need to make their voting plans.
This is an important part of VAAC’s year-round outreach: bringing practical voting information directly to shelters, service organizations, and other places where people already receive support.
Thank you to our friends at Team Wellness Center for continuing to welcome us!

ID Clinic and Resource Fair in Ypsilanti
VAAC helped organize and participated in the ID Clinic and Resource Fair at the Ypsilanti District Library’s Michigan Avenue branch.
Community members could connect with Michigan State ID services, community resources, free food, and voter information, all in one place.
Our team provided voter education and registration support throughout the afternoon and spent time talking with people about their voting questions.
Thank you to everyone who visited the VAAC table and to the organizations and community partners who helped make these resources available in Ypsilanti.

Three More Stops: School Board Forum, Democracy Fair and Expungement Resources
We’ve also shared photos from three other recent community gatherings.
At Our Own Wall Street’s School Board Candidate Forum, VAAC joined community members for an opportunity to hear directly from school board candidates about their platforms. Thank you to Our Own Wall Street, moderator Porsha Monique, and everyone who helped bring the forum together.
We also attended the Michigan Democracy Fair and Rally at Phoenix Mill in Plymouth, spending the afternoon connecting with people around civic engagement.
And at the Perfecting Church Expungement Fair in Detroit, VAAC connected with attendees and had a successful day of voter registration at our table.
These were three different gatherings, each providing an opportunity to connect with people around civic participation and the resources available in their communities.

Expungement Fair in Clinton Township and Election Protection Partner Convening
VAAC joined the Expungement Fair at Conquerors Church in Clinton Township, where attendees could learn about expungement, speak with legal professionals, and get information about possible next steps.
Our team was there sharing voting information and resources.
VAAC also spent time with Election Protection partners at an in-person convening focused on coordination and preparation for the November election. Partners reviewed the election protection landscape, exchanged information, and worked on plans to support voters.
Both gatherings reflect different parts of VAAC’s work, from helping individuals understand their voting rights to collaborating with organizations preparing to assist voters across Michigan.

Throwback Thursday: Reentry United Conference at Grand Valley State University
We also have a Throwback Thursday worth sharing!
VAAC was glad to be part of the Reentry United Conference at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, where our team tabled, connected with attendees, and caught up with longtime friends in the reentry community.
The conference brought together people working to support individuals returning home from incarceration, with conversations about reentry programs, partnerships, and long-term success after release.
We loved reconnecting with our friends from Humanity for Prisoners, Safe & Just Michigan, A Brighter Way, Linkage Community, MI-CEMI, and other organizations doing this work.
We’re happy to finally share a few moments from the day.
