Voting access in local jails depends on clear information, coordination, and a shared understanding of the voting process for eligible voters who are detained.

On Friday, July 31, Voting Access For All Coalition (VAAC) will host a special statewide community meeting to officially launch the Michigan Jail Voting Guide, a new resource developed to help communities across Michigan better understand jail voting and support access to accurate voting information.

This meeting will feature Amelia Armstrong from the Prisoners’ Legal Advocacy Network (PLAN). Amelia will share more about PLAN’s work, discuss the development of the guide, and explain how this resource can support election officials, jail administrators, legal advocates, community organizations, and others working with eligible voters detained in local jails.
