Defending Democracy and the Road to the 2026 Midterms

Our first Friday community meeting of 2026 is happening next week, and we’re ready to get moving.

Join VAAC on Friday, January 30 at 12:30 PM EST as we come together to reflect on the moment we’re in, talk through our 2026 priorities, and discuss how we show up for each other and the work ahead.

2026 is a critical year for our communities and the fight to protect democracy. This meeting will reflect on the current civic landscape, outline VAAC’s priorities as we move toward the 2026 midterms, and create space to discuss emerging threats to voting access and ways to engage in the work ahead.

VAAC Friday meetings bring together directly impacted people, organizers, advocates, and community members from across Michigan to connect, learn, and build collective strategy.

We look forward to being in community with you. Your voice and perspective are essential as we map the path forward, especially for communities impacted by incarceration, poverty, homelessness, and housing instability. We’ll open space for real conversation about what’s at stake and what’s possible when we lead together.
