VAAC stands in solidarity with those impacted by gun violence and the communities fighting for healing and change
This past Saturday, VAAC joined Detroiters at the annual Silence the Violence march and press conference, hosted by Church of the Messiah and B.L.V.D. Harambee. For 18 years, this community space has honored lives stolen by gun violence and uplifted the strength of those still here, still grieving, and still organizing.
Gun violence impacts all of us—but it disproportionately affects Black communities and justice-impacted people. VAAC shows up to support solutions that center healing, prevention, and civic power.
We believe in people-first safety—and that includes honoring every life lost, demanding systems change, and showing up year after year in solidarity. Events like these remind us that we keep us safe, and voting is one tool in our broader movement for liberation and justice.
