Life After Overcoming Trauma: Women at Huron Valley Share Their Truth, April 5th

Join us for a powerful community event uplifting the voices of women directly impacted by incarceration and advocating for dignity, healing, and justice.

The Voting Access for All Coalition invites you to a transformational gathering centered on the lived experiences of women currently and formerly incarcerated at Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility. Life After Overcoming Trauma will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 14205 East 12 Mile Rd, Warren, MI.

Lunch is served at 11:30 AM, and the program begins promptly at 1 PM.

This community-led event, brought to you by Minister Mary Marshall, will feature powerful testimony from guest speakers Aimee Cherry, Anita Posey, Shari Ware, RedeeMED, Amani Sawari, and Jesse Hollins, and a panel of professionals committed to reentry, healing, and system transformation, including Edee Franklin (Sanctum House), Irene Garza, LMSW, Jeanine Jacopec, RN (Haven), and Olivia Raye-Leonard, PE (Haven).

Together, we will shine a light on the intersecting harms of incarceration, gender-based violence, and systemic injustice—and call for meaningful solutions rooted in dignity and liberation.

📢 Why this matters:

  • Barriers to freedom and civic participation continue long after release.
  • We must center the voices of those most impacted to drive policy change.
  • Collective care, healing, and action are how we build power and solidarity.
