| April is Second Chances Month, and while Clean Slate legislation offers hope to many of those impacted by the legal system in Michigan, for too many people a further barrier remains – Cost. Filing fees and other costs can total $100, putting a fresh start out of reach for many system-impacted people. Those who have their conviction set aside have very low recidivism rates and can greatly increase their wages, making stronger and safer communities. Nation Outside, with funding through The Clean Slate Initiative, and our partner Safe and Just, will be covering ALL costs for these two events. Michigan residents are being encouraged to take advantage of two FREE opportunities to set aside criminal convictions this April. Attorneys will be on site providing free legal advice.
