VAAC Member Receives League of Women Voter’s Award

At the 38th bi-annual convention of League of Women Voters of Michigan (LWVMI) held in Lansing on May 19-23rd, 2023, VAAC Member Carolyn Madden was honored with the prestigious Judy Karandjeff Advocacy Award. “As a member of the Washtenaw County League and as a member of LWVMI’s Advocacy Committee, Carolyn is involved in a wide range of advocacy efforts demonstrating a strong passion and commitment to democracy. Her work on criminal justice includes advocacy efforts related to police reform, reducing mass incarceration, addressing systemic racism within the criminal justice system, voting rights education, and advocating for juvenile justice reform.”

Carolyn is especially honored to receive the award named after Judy Karanjeff, the LWVMI Vice-President for Advocacy. According to Carolyn, “Judy knows Lansing inside and out”.
