VAAC Friday Community Meeting: Black Maternal Health Week

VAAC Friday Community Meetings are a weekly space for connection, updates, and shared learning.

From Black girls to Black mothers and caregivers, civic power shapes our health, safety, and futures.

Our next VAAC Friday Community Meeting will be in recognition of Black Maternal Health Week.

Black maternal health is a real issue in our communities, shaped by decisions being made every day. Access to care, safe housing, economic stability, and the impact of the criminal legal system all play a role in whether Black women, families, and caregivers can live, give birth, and care for one another with dignity.

This is about what’s being prioritized and who is being supported.

This conversation will look at how civic engagement and voting shape these conditions, and why building civic power is necessary if we want different outcomes.

We will be welcoming Cassy Jones-McBryde, Founder of the Michigan Chamber for Reproductive Justice, as our guest speaker.

Join us as we name what’s at stake and organize toward a future where Black women and caregivers are protected and able to thrive.
