Prison Programming Providers Table: Innovative Models of Peer Led Prison Programming

Innovative Models of Peer Led Prison Programming

Join the Michigan Collaborative to End Mass Incarceration March 3rd from 12:00–1:30 PM (ET) on Zoom for the MI-CEMI Prison Programming Providers Table, featuring Demetrius Walls of MOTIVE (Michigan) and Alisha Kohn of Prisoner Brain Trust (New York) in a peer-led conversation on how incarcerated leadership and innovative program models are bridging gaps, restoring hope, and driving community change.

Each of these organizations has exciting innovations for prison programming.

  • Prisoners’ Brain Trust is a currently incarcerated–led nonprofit organization where all leadership and directives are developed and executed by incarcerated individuals, centering self-determination, peer leadership, and transformative solutions from inside the system.
  • MOTIVE: Music Opportunities to Incarcerated Voices Everywhere is a trauma-informed mentorship initiative that connects incarcerated individuals with youth in the community through structured phone calls, focus groups, and a recording studio platform, creating space for healing, accountability, and intergenerational guidance on both sides of the wall.

Come learn, be inspired, and take notes about how you can apply lessons from these innovators in your own programming.
