Program Scope
VAAC develops and delivers customized civic education programs.
- Deliver in trusted community based settings, including Jails, shelters, treatment facilities, parole offices, reentry programs, and community spaces
- Civics 101 workshops covering voting rights, government structure, and elections
- Reentry voter education, including the No Voter Left Behind initiative
- Candidate forums centered on community questions and lived experience
- Education on ballot initiatives, constitutional questions, and election processes
- Public education on voter suppression tactics, including Documentary Proof of Citizenship and misleading ballot initiatives
2026 Focus
- Expand civic education programming in shelters and reentry spaces
- Expand jail civic education program to additional counties
- Increase education around ballot initiatives and constitutional changes
- Address misinformation, AI-driven disinformation, and voter intimidation
- Integrate storytelling through Project VOICES to humanize civic participation
Civic education is foundational. When people understand their rights and how systems work, they are better positioned to engage, organize, and lead.
