Last week, VAAC was on the ground in Lansing, fighting a deceptive petition summary that threatens the rights of Michigan voters. Today, we’re back—and we need you in the conversation.
On May 16, we canceled our regularly scheduled community meeting to attend a critical Michigan Board of State Canvassers hearing. The Board was voting on a misleading 100-word summary for a proposed constitutional amendment that would require Documentary Proof of Citizenship (DPOC) for all Michigan voters.
The summary failed to mention:
- Over 8 million registered voters would need to re-verify their citizenship
- New registrations would require a passport or birth certificate
- Absentee voters would face new ID or Social Security requirements
- Thousands of voters could be silenced by paperwork barriers
We showed up. We spoke out. But the fight isn’t over.
That’s why we’re inviting you to join us TODAY for our VAAC Community Meeting. Let’s debrief, regroup, and build our strategy moving forward.
