UPDATE (May 1, 2025):
We’re celebrating a win for voting rights! House Joint Resolution B (HJR B) did NOT pass in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Voting Access for All Coalition (VAAC) is grateful to the lawmakers who stood with the people and recognized HJR B for what it was: an unnecessary and harmful attempt to make it harder — not safer — to vote.

What was HJR B?
HJR B proposed a constitutional amendment requiring Michigan voters to submit proof of citizenship, like a birth certificate or passport, just to register. This would have disenfranchised tens of thousands of legal voters, especially those who are already navigating documentation challenges, housing instability, or reentry after incarceration.
