Training Tuesday July 30th 6:00 – 7:00pm ET
Detroit Disability Power (DDP) is calling for dedicated volunteers to join our Election Protection Team. Our goal is to ensure that key polling sites in Detroit are free from voter suppression of any kind. In addition, we’ll be supporting voters with non-partisan information, snacks, good energy, and whatever else they might need to have a positive voting experience. This vital work supports our mission to uphold our democracy and make voting a memorable, safe, accessible, and even fun experience!
Election Protection Dates:
- Primary Election: August 6th, 2024
- General Election: November 5th, 2024
Responsibilities:
- Report voter intimidation or suppression of any kind to the appropriate hotline via phone
- Distribute educational literature to voters as they arrive at the polls
- Distribute snacks and water to voters either passing by or waiting in line
- Be a cheerleader for the democratic process
Requirements:
- Positive people-person
- Able to stay outdoors for a few hours at a time
- Attend training or schedule alternate training with DDP staff
