From our friends at Promote the Vote.
Take a break from your spring cleaning to register and vote this weekend – the May 7 local election is only five days away! (To see if your community is having an election on May 7, go to mi.gov/vote and click on your voter information.)
This weekend (May 4-5), city and township clerks must be open for at least eight hours for voter registration and in-person absentee voting. Remember, at this point, the only way to register to vote is in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency (like a utility bill or paycheck). Once you register to vote at your local clerk’s office, you can request and complete an absentee ballot there. To find the location and hours of your local clerk’s office, you can go to mi.gov/vote and click on “where are my clerk’s offices.”
If you have any questions about voting or need to report an issue, call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline at (866) OUR-VOTE | (866) 687-8683 or one of the hotlines available in a language other than English for assistance. Promote the Vote is monitoring all Michigan calls to the hotline now through Election Day, and will respond to issues as they arise.
