Join End Gun Violence Michigan and Michigan Freedom Coalition for the Movement Builder Series as they mark the 61st anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.  On April 29, 2026, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Louisiana contra Callais gutted decades of protection against racial gerrymandering — and the fallout is already spreading to other states, threatening fair representation for communities of color nationwide.  In this session, we’ll break down what the decision means, why it matters, and what you can do about it.

• — What Callais actually changed — the Supreme Court gutted 40 years of protection against racial gerrymandering, and why that’s a bigger deal than “just one Louisiana map”
• — Why this threatens fair representation everywhere — how the ruling opens the door for states to dilute the political power of voters of color, not just in Louisiana
• — What to actually do about it — concrete organizing and advocacy steps to push back before new maps get locked in for the next decade
