Healing Word Artists and the Detroit Public Library will host a program examining women’s voting history, civic participation, and contemporary challenges to political engagement.

The program includes two sections, “Women Then & Now” and “What’s at Stake? / Let’s Work Together.” Presentations and discussions will address the 19th Amendment and Voting Rights Act, the history of unions and the middle class, political corruption, voter apathy, and strategies for engaging more people in civic life.

VAAC will be represented by Christopher Ford, who will speak about voter apathy, including among Millennials, Gen Z, and men.

The program also features performances by Healing Word Artists, moderated conversations, and opportunities for audience questions.
