Community care in action: Free clothing, food, and more, every Saturday in October

Every Saturday this month, the Redford Brightmoor Initiative transforms the United Methodist Church into a space of abundance, dignity, and connection. From 8–11 a.m., community members can browse free clothing, household goods, linens, diapers, toys, and food items—no questions asked. Breakfast and coffee are served, making it a true community gathering.
Events like this are about more than meeting basic needs—they are about building networks of care that make Detroit stronger. When people come together to share resources, time, and compassion, everyone benefits. That’s the same spirit that drives VAAC’s work to ensure every voice is heard and every community has access to what they need to thrive.
