VAAC ambassadors will be out in communities across Michigan over the next week, providing civic and voter education, answering questions about voting rights, and offering voter registration support.

You can find us at an ID clinic and back-to-school market, a statewide reentry conference, community block parties and resource events, a career fair, and an expungement clinic.

ID Clinic at Brightmoor Artisans Collective’s Annual Back to School Market

VAAC is co-hosting an ID Clinic during Brightmoor Artisans Collective’s Annual Back to School Market in Detroit.

The Michigan Department of State will be on site providing services that may include first-time Michigan driver’s licenses and state IDs, renewals and replacements, REAL ID conversions, vehicle title transfers and registration, and disability parking placards and license plates. Eligible Michigan residents may qualify for a free state ID.

VAAC will also provide voter and civic education and voter registration support throughout the market.

The day will include local vendors, community organizations, wellness services, fresh produce, and activities for Brightmoor families.

5th Annual Reentry United Conference

VAAC will join the 5th Annual Reentry United Conference at Grand Valley State University’s Kirkhof Center in Allendale.

The conference brings together people working across reentry, education, housing, employment, peer-led programs, the arts, and other areas that affect people returning home from incarceration. This year’s program includes 28 breakout sessions with leaders from Michigan and across the country.

VAAC will be there providing civic and voter education, voter registration support, and information about voting rights for people impacted by the criminal legal system.

The Ruth Ellis Center will host its annual Back to School Block Party in Highland Park with free food, prizes, bookbags filled with school supplies, family activities, and community resources.

Peace Over Pistols Back 2 School Event

VAAC will join Peace Over Pistols for a Back 2 School event in Detroit focused on helping families prepare for the new school year.

The afternoon will include 400 school bags for students in grades K-12, along with a live DJ, food, refreshments, and community resources. Children must be present to receive a school bag.

VAAC will be on site providing voter education and voter registration support.

Eastside Career Fair

More than 20 employers will participate in the Eastside Career Fair at the Ford Community Center in Detroit, with opportunities in healthcare, construction, manufacturing, banking, customer service, automotive, security, retail, transportation, and other fields.

The event is hosted by SER Metro-Detroit, Ford Philanthropy, Detroit At Work, and Michigan Works! Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and come prepared to meet employers.

2026 Expungement Clinic in Roseville

CARE of Southeastern Michigan and Recovery United Community Center will host a free expungement clinic in Roseville.

Legal professionals will be available to help participants begin the expungement process, understand whether they may qualify, and identify their next steps. Assistance with Medicaid enrollment and additional community resources will also be available.

No registration is required. Assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
