Voting Access For All Coalition has continued meeting people where they are by attending neighborhood gatherings, community forums, public-service programs, and creative events across Michigan.

At each event, VAAC ambassadors provide nonpartisan voter education, answer questions, help eligible community members register to vote, and make sure people understand their voting rights.

We are grateful to the organizations and community leaders who invite VAAC to participate in their events. We also thank our ambassadors for building relationships, sharing accurate information, and helping community members prepare for upcoming elections.

African World Festival

VAAC spent the weekend at the African World Festival surrounded by music, culture, and family.

Our ambassadors connected civic participation with a celebration rooted in African history, shared voting information, answered questions, and helped eligible festivalgoers register to vote.

Buersmeyer Manor Ice Cream Social

VAAC joined residents at the Buersmeyer Manor Ice Cream Social in Detroit, where our ambassadors answered questions about voting rights and helped eligible community members register to vote.

Voting Rights Community Art Project at Urbanrest

Community members of all ages joined VAAC and Indivisible Metro Detroit at Urbanrest in Ferndale to create collages, paintings, drawings, and written reflections about voting rights, democracy, civic participation, and community experiences.

Every contribution will become part of the Voting Rights Community Art Project, a larger collaborative installation selected for Premio de Arte 2026. The completed project will be exhibited at Iglesia de Fountain Street in Grand Rapids from September 17 through October 3.

Thank you to Urbanrest for hosting the pop-up, Indivisible Metro Detroit for partnering with VAAC on the project, and everyone who contributed their ideas and creativity.

The final two pop-ups will take place August 23 with Queerseed Farming Collective in Detroit and August 28 at Affirmations in Ferndale; follow VAAC on social media and subscribe to the newsletter for times and additional details as they are confirmed.

People Powered Flint Mayoral Panel Series

VAAC participated in the June session of the Flint Mayoral Panel Series hosted by People Powered Flint.

The three-part, nonpartisan series gives Flint residents an opportunity to hear directly from mayoral candidates and submit questions about issues affecting their neighborhoods, families, safety, opportunities, and the future of the city.

During the event, our ambassadors shared voting information and helped eligible Flint residents register to vote.

Thank you to People Powered Flint for creating a respectful and accessible space where community members could learn about the local election process and prepare to participate.

More Community Outreach Across Michigan

VAAC has also provided voter education and registration support at several other events and community locations this summer, including:

• Jubilee on the Block along Detroit’s Dexter Corridor
• Clinton Township Community Club events
• Oakland County Pretrial Services

At each location, VAAC ambassadors answered questions, shared accurate voting information, and helped eligible residents register.
