Rhythm & Poetry & 2nd Chances & SA featuring Rachel Dawson and Fartumo Kusow
April 17th at 11AM on Zoom: bit.ly/EWVCSPRINGSUMMERTOOLKIT
The Elbert Williams Voting Corner was created to honor the life and legacy of Elbert Williams, my great-grand uncle, who was lynched in 1940 in Brownsville, Tennessee for organizing Black voter registration through the NAACP. What we carry forward is not just remembrance, but responsibility. This work connects the history of voter suppression and racial terror to the systems we are still navigating today, and invites us into action rooted in truth, community, and accountability. The People’s Toolkit is how we practice that action together. Each multi-generational gathering is designed to move us from awareness to application. We center history, share lived experience, offer practical tools for everyday organizing and survival, and leave with something we can carry into the week ahead. It is meant to be accessible, grounded, and deeply connected to the realities our communities are facing right now.
