Making An Impact in an Election Year with VAAC & MI-CEMI

The 2026 elections will shape the policies, budgets, and systems that determine whether mass incarceration continues to expand or whether our communities finally see meaningful change.

For communities most impacted by incarceration, disengagement is not an option. Decisions made in this cycle will affect sentencing laws, parole and probation practices, jail and prison conditions, voting rights, public safety investments, and access to housing, health care, and reentry support for years to come.

Join us on February 12 from 7-8:30pm on Zoom as we come together to look at how we can build power, advance justice, and move toward ending mass incarceration.

This conversation will explore how communities can:

  • Mobilize voters and strengthen civic power
  • Build a transformative justice platform rooted in lived experience
  • Educate decision makers on the issues that matter most to our communities

As this election season approaches, it is critical that we are not only preparing to vote, but also organizing, educating, and shaping the narrative around public safety, accountability, and justice.

Our power is collective, our voices matter, and the work we do now will shape what is possible long after the ballots are counted.

This session is for community members, organizers, advocates, and anyone who wants to understand how civic engagement can be a tool for long term change.
