Across Michigan, lawmakers are pushing documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) requirements that could block eligible voters from accessing the ballot.

En Saturday, January 24, VAAC and our partners are hosting a community storytelling workshop a Librería Pages, a Black-owned independent bookstore en Detroit. This event is an opportunity to speak out against these proposals and share how they could impact you or your community.

We’ll work together to craft personal stories, develop testimony, and create content that can be used to raise awareness and push back on voter suppression efforts.

This workshop is especially focused on the experiences of people who may face barriers under DPOC requirements, including working class voters, students, seniors, justice-impacted individuals, people who have changed their names, naturalized citizens, and anyone who has had to update their voter registration due to life circumstances.

Lunch will be provided. All are welcome, but registration is required.
