Join us on October 29th in Detroit for a bipartisan expungement clinic hosted at the Butzel Family Center.

Expungement is about more than clearing a record—it’s about clearing the path to opportunity. For too many Michiganders, a past conviction continues to limit access to jobs, housing, education, and even confidence in participating in democracy. Voting Access for All (VAAC) believes that second chances and civic power go hand in hand, which is why we are proud to participate in community expungement clinics across the state.

On Wednesday, October 29, from 1–5 PM, join us at the Butzel Family Center (7737 Kercheval, Detroit) for an expungement clinic hosted by Project Clean Slate and supported by City Council President Mary Sheffield’s office. This is a bipartisan effort—because second chances are not a partisan issue. Everyone deserves the opportunity to rejoin civic life fully.

At the event, you’ll meet with Project Clean Slate to determine your eligibility and take the first steps toward expungement. Pre-registration is required due to space limits. Please bring a photo ID with a Detroit address.

VAAC will be tabling on-site to remind community members that in Michigan, you can vote even if you have a felony or misdemeanor. We encourage more leaders to support events like this that strengthen dignity, equity, and democracy.
