VAAC Friday Community Meetings are a weekly space for connection, updates, and shared learning.
Join us for a VAAC Friday conversation with special guest Eric Anderson from the Organization of Exonerees as part of Second Chance Month.
Exonerees are individuals who were wrongfully convicted and later cleared. Their experiences reflect serious failures within the criminal legal system and the lasting impact of wrongful incarceration on individuals, families, and communities.
This conversation will focus on what comes after exoneration and how people move forward after the system gets it wrong. We will create space to listen, reflect, and learn together.
Second Chance Month highlights the importance of restoring opportunity and supporting people as they rebuild their lives. This conversation will explore how civic engagement and voting connect to reclaiming voice, shaping change, and preventing harm to others.
For many, participation in the democratic process means being heard, influencing decisions, and ensuring that what happened to them does not happen to others.
This is an opportunity to deepen understanding of the connections between justice, democracy, and civic participation, and why those most impacted must be centered in these conversations.
