SUMMARY:Macomb County Good Trouble Lives On: Kick Off Teach-In
DESCRIPTION:TEACH — Friday\, July 17 · 6:30–8:30 PM · The Dovetail\, 
 Warren Kick off the weekend with us. Macomb Defenders Rising is hosting a 
 John Lewis teach‑in honoring his life and the unfinished fight for votin
 g rights. We'll share his story\, hear from a voting‑rights voice\, and 
 walk through how to register and check your status — with refreshments a
 nd good company. It's also where we launch Saturday's voter‑registration
  drive\, so come learn how it works and sign up to help. Non‑partisan\; 
 all are welcome.\n\nThe fight to protect voting rights never ends\, and ri
 ght now\, we’re witnessing a Jim-Crow-era effort from politicians and th
 eir billionaire friends to restrict our freedoms\, silence our voices\, an
 d consolidate power.\n\nBut in America\, we choose our leaders. We will de
 cide our future. The same spirit that fueled Selma\, Montgomery\, and the 
 March on Washington lives on in our unified action.\n\nSix years after the
  passing of Congressman Lewis\, we're organizing an event in our community
  to carry the torch\, continue the legacy of John Lewis\, and pass it forw
 ard to future generations. Join us!\n\nGood Trouble Lives On is a non-part
 isan weekend of action. We require that participants commit to not advocat
 e for\, endorse\, or oppose any political candidate or ballot initiative. 
 A core principle behind all Good Trouble Lives On events is a commitment t
 o nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any
  potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to ac
 t lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally
