DESCRIPTION:Detroit Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression is pre
 senting this Juneteenth Community Gathering &amp\; Potluck at Palmer Park 
 from 2-6pm on June 20th because they believe that as a community\, we must
  break away from “city-led” Juneteenth programs that cloud the true or
 igins of this celebration and falsely suggest that the freedom of Black pe
 ople has been fully achieved. Juneteenth is not simply a date on a calenda
 r or a festival to be consumed—it is a reminder of resistance\, resilien
 ce\, and the unfinished struggle for liberation.\n\nWhile we honor the anc
 estors who fought for freedom\, we must also confront the realities facing
  Black Detroiters today: displacement\, economic inequality\, environmenta
 l injustice\, over-policing\, and barriers to housing\, education\, and op
 portunity. True freedom cannot be celebrated without acknowledging the sys
 tems that continue to impact our communities.\n\n\n\nThis Juneteenth\, the
 y invite you to gather in community\, not as spectators\, but as active pa
 rticipants in shaping a future rooted in justice\, self-determination\, an
 d collective care.\n\n\n\nJoin grassroots organizers\, artists\, dancers\,
  and community members for a people-powered discussion on what true libera
 tion means for Black Detroiters. Together\, we will reflect\, connect\, cr
 eate\, and imagine pathways toward a freer and more equitable future.\n\n\
 nFreedom is not a destination—it is an ongoing struggle and a shared res
